Midsummer is here and I have been busy painting two portraits. Just finished an acrylic of a heron in the tall grasses in the salt marsh of the Burrard Inlet.I used string gel tinted with irridescent pearl, pouring medium and reharvested copper cinder in the background. I will post this on the home page soon. Mediums are a blast to use! The next contest is coming up, and this one I will enter, the Semiahmoo Arts International Artists Day 12x12 Exhibition.
I am now an active member of the Canadian Federation of Artists. That can be considered a credential to those who want to see them. Any way, it feels like a worthwhile venture for me. Very many contests to enter, and some with actual prize money.
I am now accepting students for September. Tuesday and Thursday, morning and afternoon. Take your pick. 3 hour lessons, once per week for five weeks. Cost is $150 with one time fee of $35 for supplies. Watercolour or acrylic. Visa and other major credit cards accepted.
Art is a place I escape to. It gives me solace. I didn't know that it would take over my life. But when I gave up the profession of nursing and pursued it, I have never looked back.
